Alfred de Musset

Born 11 December 1810 in Paris in an easy and cultivated environment with a lot of facilities, young Musset waged a dandy dissipated adolescence. He started his studies in law and medicine, but he didn’t completed and attended from 1828, the romantic Cenacle at Hugo’s and Nodier’s, where he met de Vigny, Mérimée and Sainte-Beuve.
Young, brilliant, celebrated, he published his first book, Contes d’Espagne et d’Italie (1829), at the age of nineteen and was immediately very successful.
